Lead Hill Picnic Celebration set for Friday, Saturday

The annual Lead Hill Picnic Celebration is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Lead Hill City Park and Arena. The theme for this year’s festival is “Only in America.”

The opening ceremony is scheduled for four p.m. Friday with the Cub Scouts Pack 179 of Lead Hill and Bergman, and the National Anthem will be sung by Dianna Halbmaier. The Country Gospel Music Association will take the stage that evening from five to seven followed by singers Richie and Anna Matlock from seven to eight, and the band Kickin Kountry will round out the evening music beginning at eight.

Saturday’s activities begin at seven a.m. with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the Lead Hill Fire Station. The cost will be five dollars per person.

A Classic Car Show will be held Saturday morning at 9:30. Registration will be from eight to nine, and voting will be held from 9:30 to noon with cash prizes to be given away. Breakfast will be provided by the Good Neighbor Food Cupboard. For more information about the car show, call 870-688-6376.

The parade is scheduled for Saturday afternoon as participants will need to line up at 12:30 at Skyline Drive in Diamond City. The parade will run to Lead Hill City Park beginning at one, and everyone is invited to decorate a float, four-wheeler, horse or car. The winner will receive $100, $75 goes to the runner-up, and the third place finisher takes home $50.

Also on Saturday, the Welcome Ridge Band will perform from three to five, the turtle races will start at four with prizes to be given away, Richie and Anna Matlock return to the stage from five to six, the Lead Hill VFW Post 10417 will host an auction as they sell Branson show tickets and several other items, and Kickin Kountry will return to help conclude the event.

In addition, the Rand Rodeo Company will present the Arkansas Family Rodeo both nights beginning at eight. Air Evac will be present to give helicopter tours Friday and Saturday afternoon. Other activities to be held all weekend are food and booth vendors, Bingo, kids’ games and a dunk tank.
