Despite a mostly rainy day, approximately 150 people attended the celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day earlier this month sponsored by the Peitz Cancer Support House of Baxter Regional Medical Center.

Every June, cancer survivors are celebrated nationwide. Anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life – is a cancer survivor, which, in the United States alone, is more than 15.5 million people.

The local event began with the Hope in Motion Parade led by cancer survivors, followed by dinner for survivors and their guests.

The Peitz Cancer Support House provides free comprehensive support services from first diagnosis throughout treatment and beyond for cancer patients and their families and friends.
