MH Fire Marshal offers fireworks safety tips

Fourth of July fireworks can be an exciting time for family and friends gathered to celebrate the holiday. But Mountain Home Fire Marshal Gary Pyska says it’s important to keep safety in mind to avoid injuries.

The Mountain Home Fire Marshall says while folks often like to hold fireworks in their hands as they are lit, he says this isn’t a good practice.

Pyska also provides some direction on the appropriate age of those discharging fireworks.

Pyska says to keep an eye on the area around where fireworks have been ignited for 15 to 20 minutes afterwards to ensure there are no spot fires.

A reminder that by ordinance, selling or discharging fireworks is prohibited within the Mountain Home city limits.
