Huntsville man held on pharmacy robbery attempt

A Huntsville man, 41-year-old Christopher Mangrum, is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center following a robbery attempt Wednesday afternoon at a local pharmacy.Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel says shortly after 2 officers responded to a report of a robbery at a local pharmacy. It was reported the suspect entered the pharmacy with a bandana over his face and wearing latex gloves. After entering the pharmacy, he entered an “employee only” area and demanded opiates. Pharmacy employees did not meet his demands and he left the building. The suspect did not use a weapon.

The police department issued a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alert to area law enforcement containing a suspect and vehicle description. A short time later, the vehicle was located by a Baxter County Deputy and stopped at a location on Hwy 62 SW near the city limits of Mountain Home. The Arkansas State Police assisted the deputy.

Mangrum’s mother and two children were in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

After investigators interviewed Mangrum, he was charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery. His bond was set at $50,000.
