School board filings reported in Baxter, Marion, Fulton counties

The first school board filings for the September 19 election have been reported.

In Baxter County, County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese says Daniel Smakal has filed for the position three seat on the Mountain Home School Board. That seat is currently held by Ben Strider. Incumbent Lisa House has filed for the position one seat on the Mountain Home School Board.

At Cotter, incumbent James Morgan, Jr. has filed for the one seat on that board that will be on the election ballot.

At Norfork, Chad McGowan has filed for the position four seat currently held by John Casey.

Marion County Clerk Dawn Moffet says incumbent Eleanor Davenport has filed for the seat she holds on the Yellville-Summit School Board.

In addition, incumbent Roger Leonard has filed for the seat he holds on the Flippin School Board.

In Fulton County, Clerk Vickie Bishop says incumbent Karen Coffman has filed for the seat she now holds on the Salem School Board.

The filing period closes at noon on Tuesday.

For those interested in running for a school board position, packets including petitions are available from the county clerk’s office. Candidates must secure 20 signatures from registered voters in the school district in which they are running. The completed petitions should then be returned to the county clerk’s office.
