Fire totals Clarkridge residence

fire-7-14

A one-story residence at 137 Sunrise Court north of Pigeon Creek in Clarkridge was totaled in a fire Friday morning, with the central portion fully engulfed when firemen arrived just before 7.

Clarkridge Fire Department Chief Jeremy Peeler says no one was at home at the time of the blaze, with the residents believed to be out of state on vacation. Their names were not available. Chief Peeler says it is his understanding a neighbor alerted 9-1-1 of the fire at the home located about 100 yards off Highway 201.

Conditions at the scene led Chief Peeler to request assistance from Mountain Home Fire Marshal Gary Pyska and Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Brad Hurst for a second opinion on the source of the fire believed to have originated in the kitchen. He says there had been a lightning strike about 200 yards from the home during an overnight storm. In addition, he said the area had had a loss of electrical service since about 2 a.m.

Chief Peeler says his department was assisted by firemen from Mountain Home, Oakland Promise Land, and Lick Creek. Four engines and six tankers were at the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Firemen were on the scene until about 11.
