(AP) – An Arkansas ethics panel is asking for a judge accused
of failing to pay state and federal income taxes to be temporarily suspended
with pay.The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission filed a petition
Friday with the Arkansas Supreme Court, asking for Saline County Circuit Court
Judge Bobby McCallister’s suspension pending disciplinary matters.

The commission says it appears McCallister did not file taxes between 1995 and
2014, but it isn’t clear how much he may owe.

The commission filed charges of failing to pay taxes against McCallister on
Tuesday. Hours later, a special prosecutor charged the judge with four felony
charges of failing to pay taxes.

Online records show McCallister was booked into the Saline County Jail on
Thursday and released the same day.
