The Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators recognized State Senator Scott Flippo of Bull Shoals earlier this month during the group’s annual conference. The award was presented to Senator Flippo for his dedication, commitment, determination, planning for and delivering educational opportunities to prepare students for college, career, and community engagement.

Jeff Kincaid, Alternative Learning Environment Coordinator at Guy Berry College and Career Academy, says they like to give a pat on the back to those who help them.

Flippo says faculty and administrators at Guy Berry are not developing new talents in their students, they are helping to unlock what they already have, including those of one particular student.

Senator Flippo says he’s looking forward to following through on a promise he made to the 13-year-old student that if she continues to do the right things and make the right decisions, he and Jeff Kincaid will bring her to Little Rock during the next legislative session for a tour of the Capitol and an opportunity to meet Governor Hutchinson. He says he was inspired by the Guy Berry student and has every expectation that she will be visiting with the Governor and the legislature next spring.
