Glenn Gottleib; Courtesy of Dylan HoweYes fans who come out to see the band during their upcoming summer Yestival tour will be getting some more bang for their buck — the veteran prog-rockers will feature two drummers at the shows. Longtime drummer Alan White announced Wednesday that Dylan Howe, son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe, also will be playing for the group during the trek.
“It’s a pleasure for me to welcome Dylan Howe to the Yes stage,” White says in a statement. “I’ve known Dylan for most of his life and I’m proud to think I’ve helped to be an inspiration in his musical journey. I’m very much looking forward to performing with him this summer.”
Adds Dylan, “I feel very honored and fortunate to have got the call to join Yes this summer. This to me is, quite possibly, the musical zenith of my career — my love for this music and the great musicianship that runs through it has always been a massive inspiration to me.”
Howe previously has played with Ian Dury and the Blockheads, as well as on many of his father’s solo releases and side projects.
The Yestival tour, which also will feature Todd Rundgren and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy at most dates, gets underway next Friday, August 4, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Meanwhile, Yes will launch a new video diary focusing on the group’s 2017 tour this Saturday, July 29, in partnership with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Live Nation. The online series will live at YesWorld.com, and on the band’s and the Rock Hall’s social media sites.
