Cotter City Council sets public hearing regarding easement

The Cotter City Council met in regular session Thursday and after hearing a request to vacate a Fifth Street easement, north of Harding Boulevard, the Council set a public hearing date of Monday evening, August 14, at 5:30.

The Council also heard from Jeff Wheeler of the State Highway Department regarding Harding Boulevard drainage. Findings from a survey conducted of the 18 inch pipe drainage system say the drainage is adequate to handle current rainfall documented. The Council also passed a resolution to amend the 2017 Water Department Budget for Ductile Iron Pipe.

In other Council news Mayor Peggy Hammock gave an update on several projects currently taking place in the city pertaining to lighting at the NAYC, planning for a community building, as well as costs associated with the latest well pump repairs.

The 2017 Semi-Annual Inventory was read into the minutes as well as the 2016 Financial Statements for the city and the Water and Sewer Departments.

Mayor Hammack says the City of Cotter encourages all citizens to participate in the National Night Out Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.

The next regularly scheduled Cotter City Council meeting will be August 24, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. at Cotter City Hall.
