BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) – A former county deputy in northwestern Arkansas has been arrested after being accused of sexual assault. The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that former Benton County Deputy Richard Kevin Harrison is free on a $7,500 bond after being arrested on a second-degree sexual charge. No formal charges have been filed against the 52-year-old.

A police document says authorities in Rogers were alerted of a sexual assault Monday.

A woman told authorities that she woke up at 1:30 a.m. Monday and saw Harrison touching her inappropriately while he was naked. The woman also told authorities that a similar incident occurred with Harrison in April.

Harrison declined to comment on the case. His attorney says they’re “anxious for our day in court.”

Harrison was fired as deputy Wednesday after a separate criminal investigation.
