Kish wins girl’s title at Cougar Classic

The Cougar Classic high school golf tournament hosted by Izard County High School wrapped up Wednesday. The second round was played at Cherokee Village after the course at Turkey Mountain hosted the first round.

In girl’s action, Izard County’s Mikayla Kish overcame a two stroke defecit after the first round to win the individual championship. Kish shot an 83 Wednesday for a two day total of 180, eight strokes ahead of Sidney Bailey of Highland who was second. Salem’s Katie Costner finished sixth.

The girl’s team title went to Highland who finished 36 strokes ahead of Pocahontas.

On the boy’s side, Buffalo Island Central won the team title, 13 strokes ahead of Pocahontas. Izard County was third.

The boy’s medalist was Miles Gifford of BIC. Izard County was led by Tyler Pemberton who was fifth, Matthew Workman who finished sixth and Zach Williams who was eighth.
