MH 12-year-olds begin Cal Ripken World Series

The Mountain Home 12-Year-Olds are in Branson as the Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series gets underway Thursday at the Ballparks of America. The local All-Stars first opponent will be Jeffersontown, Kentucky.

The tournament includes a total of 24 teams divided into six four-team groups. Four groups are made up of teams from the United States, and the other two groups consist of international teams. Each team will play single round robin against the other three teams in its group before bracket play begins Sunday evening.

Mountain Home is in U.S. Group D, and they advanced to the World Series after winning the North Arkansas state championship. Jeffersontown won the title of the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament.

The first pitch on Chicago Field is scheduled for 1:30.
