LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – A former jail supervisor in Arkansas has settled a lawsuit accusing him of repeatedly sexually assaulting a female inmate.Scott Hazel’s attorney told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that while details of the settlement remain confidential, Hazel continues to deny he assaulted a Pulaski County inmate.

Hazel pleaded guilty in June to making a false statement to a federal agency and still awaits sentencing. As part of a plea agreement, federal prosecutors dropped a charge of sexual abuse and agreed to not oppose probation when Hazel is sentenced.

In the lawsuit, the woman alleged that Hazel “engaged in inappropriate contact and interaction” using his powers as an officer.
