A number of probation sentences were handed down during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.Barry Liner of Mountain Home was sentenced to two years in one of the Community Correction Centers in the state to undergo addiction treatment. The CCC time will be followed by seven years probation.

The 40-year-old Liner had several drug-related cases filed against him, involving methamphetamine, marijuana, illegal possession of prescription medications and various items of drug paraphernalia.

Three people received five-year probation sentences after entering guilty pleas in unrelated cases.

Cory Scott Shelton, who lists a Bull Shoals address, was arrested June 9th when officers went to a residence in Cotter and made contact with the 30-year-old Shelton. Officers found a clear cellophane bag containing a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine in the bed on which Shelton was lying.

The time Shelton was given on the new charge will run concurrent with a sentence he is now serving on an earlier conviction.

23-year-old Alicia Nicole Pierce of Cotter was arrested in mid-January when a parole home compliance visit was made. The officers found a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue and several used syringes that tested positive for methamphetamine. A plastic container holding two syringes was found in the toilet tank. One of the syringes was loaded with a clear liquid believed to be methamphetamine.

James Lally of Mountain Home admitted that he had taken a number of water meters, cut them up and sold the parts to a recycling business. The meters were described as the type attached to fire hydrants and monitor water usage at such locations as construction sites.

In addition to probation time, the 34-year-old Lally was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.

The meters were taken from construction sites and the Saddle Club Rodeo Arena.

Nicholas Acevez was sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to charges that he failed to register as a sex offender as required by law.

In mid-October last year, a traffic stop on a vehicle Acevez was driving lead to the discovery that he was not living at his registered address in Mountain Home, and had been living in another location since late September 2016.

As a level 2-sex offender, Acevez is required to report any change of address to law enforcement.

Acevez had been required to adhere to sex offender registration requirements since 2009 when he was convicted of sexual indecency. According to sex offender registration information, Acevez engaged in sexual contact with a then 14-year-old female.
