Mountain Home tops Jasper, Ind., to get first World Series win

The Mountain Home Blue Storm picked up their first win in the Babe Ruth 13 Year Old World Series Saturday night with a 9-6 decision over Jasper, Indiana. The win keeps the Blue Storm in the hunt to make out it out of pool play and into the bracket portion of the tournament.

Mountain Home struck first in the game, with a run in the second inning when July Stone laid down a sacrifice bunt to plate Brett Manes in the second inning. After Jasper scored one in the bottom half of the inning, Mountain Home scored twice in the third with two hits.

Jasper would take their only lead of the game by coming up with three runs in the bottom of the third to go up 4-3.

Mountain Home answered with three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth inning which included a two run triple by Jackson Jones.

Reed Ellison and Trent Jordan each had two hits for the Blue Storm in the game. Mountain Home had nine hits, the first of which came in the third that snapped a 13 inning hitless streak.

Mountain Home plays again Monday night at 8:00 against Atlantic Shore, New Jersey.

In other games Saturday, Atlantic Shore beat Bismarck, North Dakota 9-3; Tri-Valley, California topped Belgrade, Montana 10-0; and Eagle Pass, Texas was a 4-1 winner over Tri-County, Arkansas.
