A Marion County man is accused of stealing a truck from a local business. According to Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans, 25-year-old Leigh Blackmon of Yellville is currently in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond on felony counts of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest stems from a complaint to the sheriff’s office on Thursday of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot of D&H Tire & Lube on Arkansas Highway 235 in Yellville. A “Be on the Lookout” advisory was broadcast describing the vehicle, and later that afternoon, deputies observed the vehicle traveling northbound on Arkansas Highway 14 toward Yellville. The vehicle was confirmed as the one reported stolen.

A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver and passengers were taken into custody without incident. Deputies searched the vehicle and located syringes believed to be used to ingest methamphetamine. Investigators interviewed Blackmon, and he allegedly admitted to stealing the truck. The other occupants were question and released after investigators determined they were not involved with the theft.

Blackmon is scheduled to appear in Marion County Circuit Court.
