The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office posted a Most Wanted advisory Wednesday after a bench warrant was issued for a Mountain Home man on charges of residential burglary, violation of an order of protection, first degree criminal mischief, and fleeing from an officer.According to the advisory, the warrant for 41-year-old Chad Merriman, whose last known address is in Mountain Home, comes with a no bond hold.

Merriman is described as 6 foot, 2 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

An incident report from the Sheriff’s Office indicates officers responded to a residence in Norfork shortly after midnight Tuesday. The report indicates Casey Merriman had called 911 but never talked to dispatch. However, yelling could be heard in the background of the call before it was terminated.

When officers arrived at the scene, Mrs. Merriman unlocked the front door and said in a whisper that Chad Merriman was hiding in the attic.

With one officer watching the attic opening, the second called to Chad Merriman outside the residence through the ceiling of the front porch. Merriman agreed to exit the attic. But while one officer was waiting at the opening, he heard a crashing noise right above from Merriman kicking out the wall of the attic and jumping to the ground.   The second officer ran around the house in time to see Merriman running into the woods. Officers pursued Merriman, but were not successful in capturing him.

At the time, Merriman had an order of protection against him and an outstanding warrant for fleeing.

Anyone with information about Merriman’s location is asked to contact the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office at 870-425-7000.
