Gassville Mayor Jeff Braim updated the city council earlier this week on an easement needed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62/412 and Highway 126 as part of the process for the planned construction of a Casey’s General Store.

Mayor Braim’s update was part of a two-and-a-half hour busy council agenda.

In other business, Mayor Braim says four proposed franchise ordinances were placed on first reading. The percentage of the franchises for Black Hills Energy, Entergy Arkansas, Ritter Communications and Yelcot Telephone Company has not been determined by the council.

Mayor Braim says the council, with member Anita Seaman absent, also discussed at length the city’s fireworks ordinance.

The council also approved an engineering contract with Consolidated Land Services for assistance with the USDA for the city’s planned wastewater treatment facility expansion on the east side of Gassville.

Approval was also given to advertise the building previously housed by the Gassville Branch of the Donald W. Reynolds Library is now available for leasing.

With the day for the council’s next meeting falling on the annual school election, the date for the September meeting has been moved to the 26th.
