Underwater Treasure Hunt set for Saturday

With the ceremonial sounding of the conch shell the annual Underwater Treasure Hunt scuba dive is set to begin Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Jordan Campground on Norfork Lake. The event is for a charitable cause. Proceeds from the dive will help to restore the Jordan Pavilion after flood damage from 2017. Leftover funds will go the St. Jude Childeren’s Research Hospital.

Registration will begin at 9:00 Saturday morning, with diving from 10:00 in the morning until to 12:30 that afternoon.Certified scuba divers may search for tokens underwater and return them for prizes. There will also be a scavenger hunt and activities for children and families. Divers participate for a donation of $30. Other activities are free.

Denise Jordan of Jordan Marina says the event started over 20 years ago.

Prizes for the contest include mask, fins, dive light, dive equipment, boat rentals, lodging, T-shirts and more. No boat is required. A limited amount of dive gear will be available for rental. Reservations are recommended.
