A local golf course will be a part of one of the biggest events for the United States Golf Association (USGA) next year. Big Creek Golf and Country Club was selected as Arkansas’s qualifying site for the 2018 U.S. Amateur, and the event is scheduled for July 10th.

Big Creek managing partner Lang Zimmerman says it was exciting to learn this event will return to Mountain Home.

Approximately 50 male golfers will gather at Big Creek in July, and the majority are either college students or golfers ages 35-and-younger. Participants will compete in a 36-hole event, and Zimmerman says qualifiers will advance to the U.S. Amateur to be held August 13th through 19th of next year at one of the most famous golf venues in the country.
