MHHS cross country opener featured in Thursday schedule

Football, volleyball, golf, tennis, cross country, softball and baseball make up the local Thursday schedule.

It’s the season opener for the Mountain Home High School cross country teams. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will join the junior high and seventh grade squads in Willow Springs to compete in the Steve Waggoner Invitational.
Mountain Home’s boys finished fourth a year ago in the Class 6A State Meet. The Lady Bombers are coming off a fifth place finish.
Action gets underway at 3:30.

The Mountain Home High School volleyball team returns to 6A/5A-2 district play as they welcome Morrilton to the Hangar. The junior varsity match begins at 4:30 followed by the varsity match.
Elsewhere, Cotter hosts Clinton, Flippin entertains Yellville-Summit, Izard County travels to Walnut Ridge, and Bergman is home against Valley Springs.
Two of Mountain Home’s junior high teams will be on the road as they go up against Harrison. The seventh grade match starts at 4:30, and the eighth grade match will follow.

Mountain Home’s golf teams will be at the Cherokee Village North Course as they take on Salem, Highland and Southside Batesville.

The Mountain Home tennis teams will also have a road trip to West Memphis as they face the Blue Devils and Marion. The start time is set for 4:00 at Meadowbrook Country Club.

Three Mountain Home junior high teams will be at Bomber Stadium on Thursday. The Seventh and Eighth Grade Bombers will have Yellville-Summit for an opponent beginning at 5:00, and the freshmen squad will play Bentonville at 7:00.
In other junior high football, Salem makes the trip to Earle, Melbourne hosts Cave City, Marshall entertains Rose Bud, Mountain View heads to Conway Christian, and Harrison meets Pea Ridge.

In high school baseball, Dora travels to Doniphan.

In fall baseball, Gainesville is home against Fordland, and Dora entertains Clever.
