Zach Reed, a graduate of the emergency medical technician, paramedic and registered nursing programs at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home, has been named the college’s 2017 Outstanding Alumnus. After completing EMT/paramedic training at ASUMH, Reed was admitted into the first class of the LPN/paramedic to RN program in 2013.

Reed works as a registered nurse in the Cline Emergency Center at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He has served as a past clinical coordinator adjunct in ASUMH’s paramedic program and continues to mentor students in the clinical area as a nurse in the emergency room at BRMC.

ASUMH nursing instuctor Cathy Leppold says Reed is a leader by example. He studied, had a positive attitude, looked for learning opportunities and asked great questions in class.

Along with Reed, outstanding alumni representatives of the 22 community colleges in Arkansas will be honored in October in a ceremony during the 29th annual Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) conference in Little Rock.
