School board election wraps up Tuesday

The annual school board election, wraps up Tuesday with voting continuing from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Four polling sites will be open in the Mountain Home School District.East Side Baptist Church will serve as the site for those who normally vote there, as well as the Baxter County Fairgrounds, the Buford Community Center and the L.C. Sammons Youth Center.

The Midway Fire Station will serve as the combined site for those who normally vote there, as well as the Lakeview Civic Center, Three Brothers Community Church and Marion County voters in the Mountain Home School District.

Northeast Lakeside Fire Station will combine those voters with Gamaliel and Henderson Fire Station voters.

St. Andrews Episcopal Church will combine those voters with Clarkridge Fire Station and College and North Church of Christ voters.

Two polling locations will be available for those voting in the Cotter School District. Gassville voters may cast their ballot at the Gassville Community Center, while Cotter voters may cast their ballots at Cotter City Hall.

Two races are on the ballot in Baxter County.

At Mountain Home, Daniel Smakal is challenging incumbent Ben Strider for the position three seat.

At Cotter, Brandon Harber is challenging incumbent Jimmy Morgan for the position three seat.

There are no races in Marion County in the school election.

A reminder that voting now requires presentation of a photo ID under the state’s new law that became effective August 1. Those who do not have a photo ID may cast a provisional ballot.
