A traffic stop for failure to use a turn signal has led to the arrest of two Flippin residents on felony drug charges.

According to the arrest affidavits made available Thursday and Monday, a deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office made the traffic stop earlier this month after observing a truck pull form Fallen Ash Road onto U.S. Highway 62 without signaling the turn.

A check with the state and national Crime Information Centers indicated one of the passengers, 49-year-old Dolly Harrelson of Flippin is on probation with a search waiver on file. With this information, the officers Harrelson, the driver, 53-year-old Anthony Hickerson of Flippin, and a second passenger to exit the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle led officers to a small baggie of a white crystalline substance and the subsequent arrest of the three individuals.

A second search revealed an additional, larger baggie of white crystalline substance in a pink bag in the bed of the truck. Inside the pink bag, a blue purse contained a syringe with dark brown liquid, a glass pipe, a vapor pen, and two yellow pills, later identified as Clonazepam. The search of the truck bed also resulted in the recovery of a spoon with burn marks on the bottom.

The affidavit indicates a further search of Harrelson at the Marion County Detention Center revealed several white crystals resembling those found in the baggies in her handbag.

Harrelson and Hickerson were both charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, with bond set at $2,500. Hickerson was also charged with a felony count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

An affidavit has not been made available through the Administrative Office of the Courts CourtConnect website for the third individual arrested in the incident.
