Multi-county manhunt leads to arrest; 8 agencies involved

A two-week manhunt in and around Fulton County ended Thursday afternoon with the arrest of a Mammoth Spring area man. The chase over four counties involved officers from at least eight law enforcement agencies, including Baxter County.Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork says 37-year-old Curtis Williams was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant out of Jefferson City as a parole absconder. Sheriff Roork said Williams had been bouncing back and forth across the state line until Tuesday when the search intensified. At that point, Williams was sighted south of Mammoth Spring.

On Wednesday there was another sighting in Sharp County, near the Fulton County line. The pursuit expanded into Randolph County but was unsuccessful again.

On Thursday, a caller advised Williams had been seen near Hardy. Officers from the Ash Flat, Hardy and Highland Police Departments joined the pursuit with Fulton County deputies, with Williams running a road block in Hardy.

Sheriff Roork says Sharp County authorities located Williams after he managed to cross Highway 63.

Roork says he believes Williams will be facing felony charges in Fulton and Sharp counties, as well as Oregon County and Jefferson City.

He says in about the last 10 days, three theft reports have been received in Fulton County which authorities believe are connected to Williams. Authorities have recovered two four-wheelers and two guns they have reason to believe have been in Williams’ possession.

Williams is being held in the Fulton County jail without bond.
