A Baxter County man, 41-year-old Richard Bearden, has been arrested on a felony drug charge after being stopped by an Arkansas State Police corporal. Arrest records show addresses for Bearden in both Norfork and Mountain Home.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bearden’s vehicle was stopped in early July because the officer was aware his driver’s license was suspended. Bearden advised he did not have a license when asked to provide an identification. The officer noted Bearden appeared “very nervous and his hands were shaking.”

The suspect granted permission for the officer to search him and his vehicle. In the vehicle, the officer located both a glass methamphetamine pipe and approximately a half gram of methamphetamine.

Bearden was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on Thursday and was released the same day, after posting a $2,700 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court in October on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
