Lady Bombers fare well at Jonesboro tournament

The Mountain Home High School volleyball team played in the Ron and Pat Carmack Volleyball Playday in Jonesboro Saturday where they finished second in their bracket.

In pool play, Mountain Home defeated Harding Academy 2-0 and Pocahontas 2-0 but lost to Jonesboro 2-0. This put them into the Silver bracket.

In their first match, the Lady Bombers defeated Crowley’s Ridge 2-1, winning by scores of 25-17, 24-26 and 15-7. Charlie Pierce had eight kills, Maly Tabor collected seven kills and four blocks, Claudia Carter had seven kills and Leah Jackson finished with 23 assists.

Moutnain Home then defeated Marion 2-1, winning 25-23, 23-25 and 15-13. Tabor had five kills and six blocks, Carter had six kills, Anna Grace Foreman had five kills, Elaine Blackmon finished with eight digs and Jackson had 22 assists.

In the championship match, Mountain Home fell to DeSoto, Mississippi Central 2-0, losing 16-25 and 21-25. DeSoto Central was 20-2 on the season.

The Lady Bombers are now 10-7 on the year.
