A Gainesville man, 28-year-old Matthew Dove, who was arrested after being found slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle at a local gas station in mid-April, was given six years probation on drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

When a Mountain Home Police office responded to the scene and made contact with the driver — later identified as Dove — the officer noticed a pistol in the door, and when Dove exited the vehicle, glass smoking pipes used to ingest methamphetamine were found.

The officer placed Dove under arrest and searched his vehicle. According to court records, a black case was found containing a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Prescription medicines, both controlled substances, were also found.

In addition, Dove was charged with possession of ecstasy.

Dove was sentenced under provisions of Act 346, meaning that if he stays out of trouble during his probation period, he can petition the court to have his record sealed.
