MH faces Pine Bluff for 1st home conference game

It’s week five of Arkansas’s high school football season, and Mountain Home will have its first home test of conference play. The Bombers will be going up against Pine Bluff.
Mountain Home is currently 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the 6A-East. The Bombers began league action last week with a loss at Jonesboro. Pine Bluff comes to Mountain Home ranked third in Class 6A according to the Associated Press. The Zebras are 3-1 and 1-0 after beating up on Little Rock Hall, and Bombers’ head coach Bryan Mattox says his team will have their hands full.

Kickoff at Bomber Stadium is scheduled for seven p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins at 5:30 with Arkansas High School Gameday.
Elsewhere in the 6A-East, Searcy hosts West Memphis, Jonesboro entertains Jacksonville, and Hall is home against Marion.

Yellville-Summit will be on the road for the first time since conference action began. The Panthers’ opponent for the halfway point of the season will be Greenland.
Yellville-Summit is 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in the 3A-1. The Panthers’ league opener was last Friday when they lost to Elkins. Greenland is 3-1 and 0-1. The Pirates suffered their first loss of the season last week to Clinton.
Yellville-Summit head coach Lucas Morris says his team has prepared well for this week.

Kickoff at Jonathan Ramey Memorial Field is set for 7:00.
Also in the 3A-1, Melbourne hosts Marshall, Mountain View travels to Elkins, and Green Forest entertains Clinton.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Salem makes the trip to Rector, and Harrison heads to Clarksville.
There are three matchups among teams in the Arkansas Associated Press Top Ten. Top-ranked Har-Ber will stay in the city, but they’ll be the visitors as they meet number seven Springdale. In addition, number three North Little Rock is home against ninth-ranked Conway, and fourth-ranked Greenwood hosts number eight El Dorado.
For Missouri, this is the seventh week of the football season. Among area schools, West Plains makes the trip to Springfield to face Kickapoo, Hollister entertains Springfield Catholic, Forsyth heads to Pierce City, Branson is home against Republic, Ava hosts Thayer, Willow Springs entertains Houston, Mountain View-Liberty travels to Cabool, and Mountain Grove makes the trip to Salem, Missouri.

Dora’s softball team will be in Poplar Bluff for the Three Rivers College Invitational Softball Tournament. The Lady Falcons’ first game will be against Sikeston at 5:15.
In other high school softball, Gainesville heads to Hartville.

In fall baseball, Gainesville travels to Morrisville to take on Marion C. Early, and Dora makes the trip to Bradleyville.
