Carpenter gets time for theft from vehicles

Stefani Carpenter of Mountain Home was given five years probation after changing her plea to no contest on charges she broke into vehicles on the parking lot of a local business and took items from them.

In mid-December last year, the Mountain Home Police Department received reports vehicles parked at the business were entered and items such as wallets, debit/credit cards and cash were taken.

Video surveillance footage was obtained and a male and female — later identified as the 23-year-old Carpenter and 27-year-old Derek Hawes — were identified. They were traced to an apartment along Coley Drive where some of the stolen items were recovered.

In addition to being placed on probation, Carpenter was ordered to pay $345 in restitution. Hawes was also given five years probation in the case in May and also ordered to pay restitution to the victims.
