Boone County has been added to the list of local counties currently under a burn ban. According to the Arkansas Forestry Commission, the ban is also in effect for Fulton, Searcy and Stone Counties. All outdoor burning is prohibited in these counties until further notice.
Baxter County Judge Mickey Pendergrass, Marion County Judge Terry Ott and Izard County Judge Eric Smith say they are monitoring the weather Tuesday as rain is in the forecast. They intend to issue a burn ban in their respective counties if necessary.
Even with the trace amount of rain occurring across the Twin Lakes Area Tuesday all officials are urging extreme caution as the entire region is under abnormally dry conditions according to the U.S. Drought monitor.
