Larry Gene Tate III, who listed a North Carolina address when booked into the Baxter County Detention Center, changed his plea to guilty on charges stemming from his possession of a vehicle stolen from Fulton County and was given six years probation during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.According to the probable cause affidavit, the vehicle Tate was driving was initially stopped June 10th on State Highway 101 because it had failed to dim its headlights for oncoming cars.

The Arkansas State Trooper determined that the truck had been reported stolen. As Tate was questioned he told several stories about the truck and how he had come to possess it. At one point, he said the vehicle belonged to his grandmother, but could not tell the trooper where she lived because she “moved a lot”.

The trooper determined that the 20-year-old Tate had a suspended license from North Carolina.

He is charged with theft by receiving and several traffic violations.
