The deadline for the payment of personal property and real estate taxes to avoid penalties and interest is less than two weeks away on October 16. With the normal deadline falling on Sunday, Baxter County Collector Teresa Smith says taxpayers have an extra day this year to make their payment.

In addition to the U.S. Postal Service, Smith says Baxter County taxpayers have three other options for submitting their taxes.

Smith says the silver payment box is located on the sidewalk outside the Collector’s Office on the south side of the courthouse square.
In addition, payment of taxes may be made online.

Smith cautions those utilizing online options to ensure they have checked the boxes for all properties for which they are seeking to make payments, including those listed under a different name.
The online payment options, including eCheck, do have processing fees for utilizing these services.
Smith also reminds 100 percent disabled service-connected veterans of a pending deadline.
