Bass Cat to host students for National Manufacturing Day

Local boat manufacturer Bass Cat is one of 23 businesses across the state to participate in National Manufacturing Day Friday. Bass Cat, along with Yar-Craft boats, has partnered to bring over 100 students from Mountain Home, Gainesville and Norfork High Schools to the Midway factory for an in-depth tour and to learn more about manufacturing careers.The event is designed to celebrate manufacturing and to inspire the next generation of manufacturing and involves students, educators, business people, media and politicians. It’s a collective effort to educate participants about manufacturing careers and improve public perceptions of manufacturing.

Over 2,400 businesses across the nation have scheduled events.

Bass Cat President Rick Pierce says he hopes to show area students future job options they may have not yet considered.

Pierce says Bass Cat welcomes new applicants. Heather Curtis is the Human Resources Coordinator. Applications may be completed on site. Pierce says benefits are part of the employment compensation package, and the organization seeks to make continual improvements.
