Whether the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce will return to its former location on U.S. Highway 62 next to McDonald’s is still under consideration. But the Chamber’s President and CEO, Jeff Pipkin, says the decision has been made to not return to the building that has housed the Chamber offices for over 25 years.
Listen:
The unplanned move to 1041 Highland Circle, Suite 59, in early June was not on the radar when Pipkin took the Chamber reins over eight months ago. At the time of his hiring in late 2016, the roles of CEO and economic director were combined. After spending a couple of months on the logistics of the unplanned move and bringing new Executive Vice President Angela Broome on board, Pipkin is fully focused on the reason he was brought to Mountain Home–to recruit new businesses to the area.
Listen:
Pipkin’s reference to 2007 numbers reflects comments he says he has heard throughout his community visits since arriving in Mountain Home.
Listen:
To move the Twin Lakes Area forward, Pipkin says higher paying jobs are needed desperately.
Listen:
Pipkin says those businesses being targeted include corporate headquarters, call and data centers and others performing back office functions. He says while these type of businesses don’t require heavy truck traffic, they do require high-speed Internet and smart people.
