A partnership between Ozarka College and the University of Central Arkansas will allow a secondary history degree track in teacher education to be available from the Melbourne college’s campus.

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education has approved the new 2+2 agreement between Ozarka and UCA for the spring semester. Open registration for the spring semester classes begins on November 6.

Ozarka College officials say this is the third education program offering on their campus

Prior to the latest memorandum of understanding with UCA, Ozarka College offered two degree tracks under the Associate of Science Education degree plan. Students had the opportunity to select a focus area in elementary education (grades kindergarten through six and/or special education) or mid-level education (grades 4-8, math/science, language arts, or social studies). Both of these degree tracks will continue to be offered and are eligible to transfer to Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas State University’s Degree Center on the Mountain Home campus, and UCA in Conway.

The new third degree track option will enable students to select the secondary education degree track (grades 7-12, history and/or social studies) as their focus area. Upon completion of Ozarka’s two-year Associate of Science degree in Teacher Education, graduates may transfer to complete their remaining two years at UCA, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
