MH begins 2nd half of football season at Jacksonville

It’s week six of the high school football season in Arkansas, and Mountain Home will begin the second half on the road. The Bombers are set to continue conference play as they take on Jacksonville.
Mountain Home is currently 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in the in the 6A-East. The Bombers are coming off a loss at home to Pine Bluff. Jacksonville is 1-4 and 0-2. The Titans fell to Jonesboro last week.
Mountain Home head coach Bryan Mattox says there is a lot riding on tonight’s game.

Kickoff at Jan Crow Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins at 5:30 with Arkansas High School Gameday.
Elsewhere in the 6A-East, Searcy travels to Marion, Jonesboro makes the trip to Pine Bluff, and Little Rock Hall heads to West Memphis.

It’s Homecoming night for Yellville-Summit. The Panthers return to the home turf as they welcome Green Forest to the Twin Lakes Area.
Yellville-Summit is 1-4 on the year and 1-1 in the 3A-1. The Panthers picked up their first win under head coach Lucas Morris a week ago when pounded Greenland. Green Forest is 2-3 and 1-1. The Tigers lost to Clinton last Friday.
The Homecoming ceremonies at Panther Field are scheduled for 6:30. Kickoff is set for 7:00.
Also in the 3A-1, Melbourne travels to Clinton in a battle of unbeatens, Marshall hosts Elkins, and Mountain View entertains Greenland for Homecoming.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Salem is home against Cross County for Homecoming, and Harrison makes the trip to Vilonia as the fifth-ranked team in Class 5A.
For Missouri, this is the next-to-last week of the regular season. Among area schools, West Plains hosts Springfield Parkview, Hollister heads to Strafford, Forsyth entertains Sarcoxie, Branson travels to Willard, Ava is home against Cabool for Senior Night, Willow Springs makes the trip to Thayer, Mountain View-Liberty hosts Salem, Missouri, and Mountain Grove heads to Houston.

District play continues for high school softball in the Show Me State.
Dora will play its first game in the Class 1, District 2 Tournament at Crocker. After having a first round bye, the top-seeded Lady Falcons will compete in the semifinals against Stoutland at 5:00.
West Plains is one win away from a state tournament bid as they play for the championship of the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Logan-Rogersville High School. The top-seeded Lady Zizzers face the host Lady Wildcats at 3:00.
Ava will return to Hartville as they take part in the title game of the Class 2, District 1 Tournament. The top-seeded Lady Bears will be paired with Mansfield at 5:00.

Some local high schools are giving their fans a chance to preview the upcoming basketball season. Flippin will host Bobcat Madness, the Black-Grey Games will be held at Izard County, St. Joe will play its Blue-Gold Games with a chili supper sponsored by the Booster Club at 4:30, and Western Grove will host its Blue-White Games.
