Homeless sex offender registered in Baxter County

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public a homeless Level 2 sex offender with moderate risk to re-offend is now living in Baxter County and has registered with the Sheriff’s Office.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says 37-year-old Jason Brannon was convicted most recently of first degree sexual abuse in March 1999. The offense involved Brannon forcefully grabbing and restraining a 14-year-old female while touching her inappropriately.

Sheriff Montgomery says Brannon is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
