The Mountain Home High School Athletic Hall of Honor will induct five new members Saturday including a football stand out from the early 1980s.

Paul Neal was a two-time all-state and all-conference running back for the Bombers. His junior season, he was part of the first Mountain Home football team to go undefeated during the regular season and he says that season sticks out as has favorite memory of his playing days.

In that season, Neal rushed for 1,750 yards and 22 touchdowns, was the 1AAA Conference’s Most Valuable Player, was the Associated Press Player of the Week after the Harrison win and put together a string of nine consecutive games with over 100 yard rushing, a feat that has never been matched by any other Bomber.

After graduation, Neal went to Arkansas Tech University on a football scholarship but was injured and never played again after his freshman season.

He says he encourages youngsters to play team sports because of the positive impact it can have on their lives like it has his.
