Bombers get first win of season with blowout of Hall

The Mountain Home High School football team took control early Friday night and picked up their first win of the season at Little Rock Hall. Brad Haworth has the details.

Mountain Home’s highest point total of the sseason before Friday night was 20 points. It took them just over seven minutes to top that as the Bombers cruised to a 49-6 win over Hall. The Bombers romped for 200 yards of offense and 28 points while holding the Warriors to only 16 yards of offense in the first quarter. Junior Williams had a huge night, scoring five touchdowns on the evening.

Williams got the scoring started on Mountain Home’s first possession wtih a 12 yard run. On their second possession, Mountain Home’s Isaac McKay scored from 13 yards out. After Hunter Preis picked off a pass, the first of three interceptions by the Bombers on the night, Williams had a 21 yard scoring run. Williams added two more touchdown runs in the first half as the Bombers built a 35-0 lead.

In the second half, Williams had his final touchdown run and senior Shane McDonald capped a nice drive by the second team offense with a two yard scoring plunge.

In the fourth quarter, there was a touching moment as Hall celebrated senior night by giving special needs player Jaylen Sims the ball and he worked his way through the Bomber defense for a 70 yard touchdown run, earning a huge cheer from the crowd and creating a lifelong memory.

On the night, McKay led the Bombers’ attack with 164 rushing yards while Williams had 154. Mountain Home finished with 293 yards while the Warriors, when you take out the special run by Sims, had only 76 yards of offense.

With the win Mountain Home improves to 1-7 and 1-4 in the 6A East. The Warriors fall to 1-7 and 0-5.

Mountain Home will host Searcy next Friday night.
