Searcy County Sheriff Joey Pruitt says Crockett’s Country Store at the intersection of state Highways 27 and 14 burned to the ground early Wednesday morning.According to the Harrison Daily Times, Pruitt says firefighters from Harriet, Rock Creek and Cozahome, operating at Haroco, along with firefighters from Morning Star and Marshall, responded to the blaze reported Wednesday morning at approximately 12:55.

Pruitt says the structure was fully engulfed in flames when he arrived on scene, making it impossible to determine where the fire started. In addition, the structure itself was unstable at the time.

The store wasn’t open.

It contained supplies for float trips and camping, as well as a deli with hot and cold foods.

Arkansas State Police investigators were called in to help determine the cause of the fire, but Pruitt says he wasn’t sure when they would be able to get into the building.

Pruitt went on to say the store was opened by Bobby Crockett, a member of the 1964 championship Arkansas Razorback football team, and contained memorabilia from that year’s team.
