Watson had led the Texans to three wins in six starts. He came off the bench at halftime of Week One to relieve Opening Day starter Tom Savage. Watson tossed 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions in seven games.

Savage took over the first-team snaps for Watson during Thursday’s practice and will start on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
