Kindness, Inc., to host Golden Gala Saturday at fairgrounds

Kindness, Inc., will celebrate its 20th anniversary of providing essential services in Baxter and Marion Counties this weekend. The second-annual Golden Gala is scheduled for Saturday evening at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.

The doors will open at 6:00, and the Stardust Band will provide music from 7:00 to 10:00. Kindness, Inc., Director Debbie Wamock was recent guest of the Talk of the Town on KTLO-FM, and she says the Stardust Band was a local favorite when they were in the Twin Lakes Area a few years ago.

Tickets can be purchased at the Kindness, Inc., office on Coley Drive, Carter's Jewel Chest in the Town East Center, the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, First Security Bank, Integrity First Bank and the Bank of the Ozarks. Tickets at the door will be $40 each.

Attendees will have the option of dressing casual or formal. A cash bar will also be available, and snacks will be provided including a celebratory cake.

The gala will also feature a raffle. Wamock says Carter's Jewel Chest has donated a pendant and necklace for the event.

Tickets for the pendant and necklace are $10 each or six for $50 and can be purchased at Kindness, Inc., Carter's Jewel Chest and several local banks.

The proceeds raised from the Golden Gala will go to benefit Kindness, Inc., to provide assistance to those who look to remain independent while aging in their own homes. Its volunteers provide transportation to medical and other appointments, grocery shopping assistance, respite for primary caregivers and other free services. Wamock says since she joined the organization 3 1/2 years ago, its client base has doubled, and more volunteers are always welcome.
