North Dakota beats UAPB in Rainbow Classic

HONOLULU (AP)   Cortez Seales had 22 points, six rebounds and four assists to help North Dakota beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 80-71 in the final night of Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic on Monday.

The Fighting Hawks (2-1) pulled away with a 13-2 run to lead 58-46 on Tray Buchanan’s pair of free throws with 12:22 to play.

North Dakota pushed the lead to 19 shortly after the five-minute mark before the Golden Lions (0-3) scored 10 straight in less than two minutes to close to 77-68. But the Lions lost their momentum with two turnovers in the final three minutes.

Geno Crandall added 20 points and seven rebounds, making all 10 of his free throws, and Dale Jones scored 16 for North Dakota.

Martaveous McKnight had 30 points and seven rebounds to lead Pine Bluff. He finished the three-game round robin classic with 63 points. Trent Steen added 15.
