The Mountain Home High School boys' basketball team began the Citizens Bank Tournament in Van Buren on a winning note. The Bombers defeated the host school's junior varsity squad by a final of 53-39.
Mountain Home jumped out on the J.V. Pointers early going up double figures, but Van Buren made a comeback and kept the game fairly close for most of the contest. The Bombers finished each of the first three periods with a single digit lead, but they were able to pull away in the final quarter and post the 14-point victory.
Colton Peters led Mountain Home with 18 points, Luke Kruse scored 16, and David Wehmeyer added 12. The Bombers improve to 2-2 on the season, and they'll advance to the semifinals Friday evening at 5:00.
