A Mountain View man, 46-year-old Phillip Callahan, is in custody following a 24-hour ground search in the Pleasant Grove area of Stone County.

Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds says Callahan was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on charges of felony theft and evading arrest, as well as being a parole absconder.

Sheriff Bonds says with the assistance of citizens and the Department of Correction North Central Unit K-9 Team, Callahan was tracked through the woods north of Hwy. 14 and Amick Chicken Farm, where he was apprehended by the North Central K-9 Team.

Callahan was transported to the Stone County Detention Center where he awaits a parole hearing and new criminal charges.
