Around 15 firefighters from the Midway Volunteer Fire District, Grover Township Fire Department and Bull Shoals Fire Department responded to the scene of a structure fire at Newland’s Float Trips, Lodge and Conference Center, Inc., located at 295 River Road in Lakeview, at approximately 1:30 Saturday morning.There were no reported injuries.
According to Grover Township Fire Department Chief Jim Sierzchula, one of the cabins at Newland’s caught fire. An initial investigation suggests it started in the flue of a fireplace and somehow reached the attic. Sierzchula says most of the building is in tact, however the interior was completely destroyed.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours.
