The Christmas season began in Mountain Home on Friday. The annual Myrtle Wood Chamberlain Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was held at the Baxter County Courthouse Square featuring a patriotic theme honoring veterans of the United States’ military branches.

Vietnam veteran and former First Security Bank president Larry Nelson gave the Christmas message. Early on in his speech, Nelson said when veterans take the oath to serve, they never know what to expect for their future.
