At a time of heightened security at home and abroad, officials in Marion County have stepped forward with prevention measures for its court facilities.

After appropriations of $14,536.39 in grant funding by the quorum court, the county has moved forward with installation of security equipment in both the Marion County Courthouse and Annex.

Marion County Judge Terry Ott says the equipment is mainly for individuals going in and out of the courtroom.

Nearly $5,500 of the grant were used for upgrades in the courthouse, and over $9,000 were used for the Annex. Judge Ott says the two government buildings haven’t experienced any security issues, but the purpose of the security equipment is to prevent an incident before it occurs.
